OUR WHY
Doctors are highly trained in the art of healing. These are all medical specialists who are here to continue providing care to you and your skin. This includes specialists such as Dentists, Optometrists, and Medical Doctors.
DENTISTS are experts with injecting and using fine motor skills to deliver anesthetic medications to microscopic areas of the mouth and nervous system. They utilize masterful injection skills and comfort techniques with needles on a daily basis.
OPTOMETRISTS use microscopes and handheld tools to remove tiny shards of metal and wood from the eye without damaging it. They use special forceps to insert miniature plugs into areas of the eyelids for dry eye treatment.
MEDICAL DOCTORS deliver injections and use many instruments to evaluate and care for their patients. They are experts with their “healing hands of touch” - helping patients to feel comfortable and relaxed by creating a trusting environment.

MEET OUR FOUNDERS
Dr. Daniel Millikan, D.D.S.
Dr. Millikan has been practicing dentistry for nearly 20 years following advanced degrees in biology and chemistry which included hospital laboratory industry for a decade. With his in-depth knowledge in the sciences, Dr. Millikan also taught anatomy/physiology for Indiana University for several years.
Dr. Millikan took his medical background and dentistry expertise to the area of aesthetics in 2012 with advanced training in cosmetic injectables. He is passionate about the health and happiness of his patients, and that naturally led to the medical spa aspect of his office.
“Ten years ago, I began providing cosmetic enhancements including Botox to my patients. I love watching our patients leave our office happy and more confident with how they look and feel whether we are improving their smile or their skin appearance -- enhancing these areas provides them joy and I get to see that reward every day.” Dr. Millikan
Dr. Diana Christensen, O.D.
Dr. Christensen has been practicing optometry since 2008. She opened her own practice, Allure Eyecare + Aesthetics, in 2022 with the idea of primary care optometry with dry eye spa services and aesthetics. Even the logo was designed to look like water droplets and her brand influence is tropical, emphasizing moisture.
“I’m from Florida and I’ve studied dry eye for 20 years, it made sense to tie them together. It’s me! My brand is who I am and what I want to give back to patients, especially here in the midwest where it's more of a drier climate.”
Dr. Christensen is passionate about her patients and enjoys the area of self-care, aesthetics and helping her patients feel good about themselves. “I studied nutrition in undergrad and did dry eye research at IU School of Optometry - it makes me feel good to find a solution to their problem and improve it. I like an approach using technology and machines rather than strong medications. Sometimes this is necessary but I like to try other solutions first. Plus the added bonus of self-care and stimulating collagen in the aging skin - it’s a win-win to use some of these procedures!”
Tessa Shaw, Licensed Esthetician and Director of Operations
Tessa Shaw has been practicing for almost a decade. She has logged many years in dermatology and has a wealth of knowledge of how to treat certain skin types and conditions as well as contraindications for certain medications. Her patients adore her and you can tell she loves what she does – bringing joy and comfort to her patients.
“Everyone comes out feeling renewed and refreshed when they see Tessa. As a practitioner, I rely on her input and advice when treating our patients. We have tag-teamed several patient cases in order to provide the best experience and outcome for the patient. We learn from one another. She’s a great part of our team and has helped tremendously with training and our flow with the addition of the medical spa in our office.” - Dr. Christensen
HOW WAS DOCTORS MEDICAL SPA CREATED?
Doctors Medical Spa was created by Drs. Millikan and Christensen. The doctors have years of experience teaching and mentoring associate doctors and staff. Our Doctor Partners enjoy an ongoing support system to ensure the best possible patient experience.
